WELCOME TO THE CHUCKANUT BAY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

The current Chuckanut Bay Community Association (CBCA) emerged out of the Chuckanut Community and Firefighters Association (CCFA), which was formally organized in 1992 after earlier beginning as a women's auxiliary to support Fire District #6, said fire district having been created in 1956 to protect the Chuckanut community.

In 2008, the residents of the Chuckanut community voted to dissolve Fire District #6 and cede fire protection and management responsibilities to the larger and more professional South Whatcom Fire Authority (SWFA).

In December of 2009, the membership of the CCFA, considering whether or not to dissolve their Association, voted to continue, and began a process of redefinition. This process culminated in the re-naming of the organization and revision of bylaws, in which it is stated that " The Association shall be maintained by the members as an administrative, fund raising, information sharing and social organization devoted to the safety and welfare of the Chuckanut Bay Community... charged with supporting the safety, health and welfare of the community, providing a forum for community members to act as a liaison to public safety authorities and publicizing to the community public safety issues and other matters of general interest."

At this point in time, the three primary interests of the Association are:
   1) Liaison with our fire authority, the SWFA.
   2) Liaison with local law enforcement agencies.
   3) Emergency preparedness.
